Playboi Carti took extreme measures to focus on his latest album, opting to lay down tracks in an actual cave!
In a recent interview with the German magazine Numéro Berlin, the enigmatic rapper shared that he spent a quarter of a year in a subterranean setting in Paris to create his latest masterpiece. He describes the outcome as “wild and intense”, which aligns perfectly with his signature sound.
For Carti, the trick is to remain distraction-free. That means keeping away from his own thoughts and certainly his phone to produce music that rises to his own high bar.
Ever since his chart-topping “Whole Lotta Red” release on Christmas Day 2020, fans have been eager for more. And while the cave experience played a significant role, Carti also mentioned that he vetted the album’s acoustics in a transparent hillside abode and his usual Atlanta space, suggesting it got his nod of approval. Yet, he remains tight-lipped about its release date.
Although he’s postponed his Antagonist Tour to 2024, many speculate that’s when the album might drop. Fans remain loyal and supportive, with celebrities like Jaden Smith even channeling Carti for Halloween.
Regarding his unique recording venue… all eyes (and ears) are on how it’ll influence the sound. Expectations are set for the album’s debut in 2024.
