State media KCNA reported on Monday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un conducted a supervision of the trial of domestically developed drones.

Kim visited the Drone Institute at the Academy of Defence Sciences on Saturday, where he observed drones successfully engage and destroy predetermined targets following various preprogrammed flight paths, according to KCNA.

He emphasized the need for an increased production of suicide drones for use in tactical infantry and special operations units, including underwater attack drones, strategic reconnaissance drones, and multi-purpose attack drones, KCNA noted.

Furthermore, Kim advocated for additional tests to further the drones’ combat capabilities, aiming to integrate them into the North Korean military swiftly, KCNA reported.

Amidst enhancing its capabilities with short-range missiles and heavy artillery targeted at South Korea, Pyongyang continues to develop its ballistic missile and nuclear technologies.

Over the weekend, Kim also toured the construction sites of several industrial factories across North Korea, as reported by KCNA.
