Here’s the backstory: Big Boi performed in Georgia following a Kennesaw State University game. He appeared with his pet owl on his arm, presumably aiming for a crowd-winning moment since the university’s mascot is an owl. However, things don’t always go as we envision!
The scenario quickly changed when, as evident in the video clip, the owl appeared agitated early into Big Boi’s Saturday performance. It attempted to fly off, but was tethered to the rapper’s gloved hand.
As Big Boi sought assistance – presumably from someone skilled in handling birds – Sleepy Brown tried to divert the audience’s attention. Despite the hiccup, the performance continued, albeit with a slightly uneasy vibe.
Big Boi later shared footage of him and the owl before the show. Backstage, the bird appeared calm.
Interestingly, Kennesaw State hasn’t used a live owl as their mascot for some time now, and their current mascot, Scrappy, is just a costume.
