LeBron James breaks minutes played record in Lakers loss to 76ers

LeBron James achieved a remarkable feat in the NBA, breaking the record for the most minutes played, even though it coincided with the most devastating loss of his career.

At the age of 38, James managed to score 18 points in the LA Lakers’ disappointing 138-94 defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

During the first quarter of the game, James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s impressive league record of 66,297 minutes played throughout his career.

In addition to this milestone, James had already surpassed Abdul-Jabbar’s point tally of 38,387 back in February, making him the division’s leading scorer.

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid excelled for the Philadelphia 76ers, recording an impressive triple-double with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. This outstanding performance helped secure a 44-point victory for his team, marking their fourth win in the last six games.

Despite the loss, Anthony Davis contributed to the Lakers’ efforts with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Prior to this defeat, the team had won four out of their last five games.

Notably, the margin of victory in the game against the 76ers surpassed the previous record, which was set in 2019 when the Lakers suffered a 42-point defeat against the Indiana Pacers. This makes it the heaviest loss in James’ remarkable 21-year NBA career.
